meson
[Greek: "middle"]
The name of the intermediately-pitched
tetrachord
in ancient Greek music-theory. It forms the tetrachord
descending from the central note, mese,
in both the
Greater and
Lesser Pefect Systems,
and actually is the middle tetrachord in the
3-tetrachord LPS.
