The old libation mode, thought to have been originally either a neutral third pentatonic containing a spondeiasmos or a semitonal pentatonic scale similar to E F A B C e. In later times, the mode was identified with the enharmonic [genus] without the microtones. See Chapter VI [of Divisions of the Tetrachord].
